A template on Wikipedia is a page designed for inclusion in other pages. Templates typically contain standardised or repetitive material that needs to appear across multiple articles or pages. (This is meant to be an inspiring quote — this example is not very inspiring!)

This whole part of the page, which may include several sub-sections, is very free-form. Some ideas follow, but they are not compulsory, just suggestions.

As this is the main content of the page, it may go on for many pages. Try to include relevant images and videos if they help.

Also, stay open to the idea that the curators collectively may see value in having sub-pages dealing with different perspectives. Consider how much fits together in one page for an expected reader. If the page feels too long or too varied, and doesn't feel coherent, explore the possibilities of sub-pages.

If it is just your topic that you need to give more around, you can use sub-pages. In contrast, if you want to define a term that may be relevant to other topics as well, please use concept pages.

This is one very common section; if the topic doesn't have obvious “benefits”, then you can just say something like “why templates” or “what is the point of templates”. You can be creative here. The point is, after explaining what the topic is, it is a good idea to inform readers of why it is important, ideally why it is relevant to the Commons.

The point here is to inform readers what they can do; how they can be involved, etc. Again, this is an optional section, and the title may vary depending on the topic or its context.
