# Getting started with an account

To contribute to curating these pages, you will need to set up an account, similarly to on many other sites.
We give our curators editing rights over specific topics, and we are encouraging collective responsibility for maintaining and extending those aspects of the knowledge base. (It's not like Wikipedia, where everyone can change anything.)

If you haven't already talked to us about this, please send us an e-mail, noting:

  * your name
  * your e-mail address
  * your preferred username
  * which topics you are offering to help with curating
  * a little about your knowledge and experience with these topics

You will be able to set your own password when you log in for the first time; and you can change it whenever you wish.
