Simon Tilley, a chartered mechanical engineer, joined [Hockerton Housing Project](http://www.hockertonhousingproject.org.uk/) in 1995 after a background in manufacturing and sustainable development work. His main interests are in the energy aspects of building design, educational work including lecturing on the environmental science course at Nottingham Trent University and as the operations manager for [Sustainable Hockerton](http://sustainablehockerton.org)’s community renewable systems.
